Opening exhibition Re-Surface by Marleen Sleeuwits
You are most welcome to join us for the festive opening of the solo exhibition Re-Surface by Marleen Sleeuwits. The exhibition will open during Amsterdam Art Week from 21 - 25 May.
In what places do we actually spend most of our time and how do we relate to them? In the exhibition Re-Surface, Marleen Sleeuwits explores her fascination with suspended ceilings with which we are constantly surrounded on a daily basis. The material has a temporary and impersonal character and is quickly popularly labelled as ‘ugly’ or ‘cheap’. In this new series of works, she explores the relationship between original, replica and photography. The presentation in neon-coloured Plexiglas containers makes you feel like you are looking at relics from the future.
