You are most welcome to join us for the festive opening of The Wind on the Other Side by Nomin Zezegmaa during Amsterdam Art Week 2024.
01.06.23 / 16.00 – 17.00: Music performance by Yesun-Erdene Bat.
Nomin has invited Yesun, a Mongolian throat singer and horse head violin player. He will be performing during the opening of her exhibition The Wind on the Other Side. This event is part of Amsterdam Art Week 2024.
Yesun (Yesun-Erdene Bat) was born in 1988 in Selenge Yruu, a place on the banks of the Selenge River on the northern border of Mongolia with Russia. He studied Mongolian folklore songs, music and culture at the National University in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar from 2005 to 2009, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. From 2006 to 2010, he studied singing and music education at the University of Arts and Culture in Ulaanbaatar, completing this second degree as a singing and music teacher. He then worked as a music teacher at a secondary school in Ulaanbaatar. From 2011 to 2013, he was engaged as a Morin Khuur musician and singer at the Mongolian Cultural Center in Namyangju, South Korea. In 2013, he moved to Bremen, Germany. Since then, he has had numerous performances as a soloist on the Morin Khuur and as a singer, as well as guest appearances with various ensembles such as Hosoo & Transmongolia, Sound Affinities Ensemble, Ephyra, Khukh Mongol, Egschiglen, Hatan and Sedaa in Germany and other European countries. He played, among other events, at the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Chair for Transcultural Music Studies at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar in November 2019.
