Galerie Bart proudly presents Marleen Sleeuwits on Paris Photo 2025 in a vibrant and unconventional exploration of the false ceiling—an architectural feature so familiar it often goes unnoticed. All works on display belong to the “Ongoing Series of False Ceilings”, exhibited this year at Fotomuseum Den Haag. They reflect Sleeuwits’ sustained interest in transforming overlooked architectural elements.
A large photographic piece, subtly hand-altered, invites viewers to reconsider this often-ignored structure. Alongside it, the artist presents photographic-sculptural hybrids in plexiglass boxes. Varying in size, some lie flat against the wall, while others extend outwards, exposing both sides like futuristic display objects—present-day relics seen through a future lens.
Through bold colour and material play, Sleeuwits reclaims sterile, everyday spaces, transforming them into visually charged compositions that blur the boundaries between photography, sculpture, and design.
